Matilda Cracknell

In her work, Matilda uses repetitive techniques to unite process with the art object. Having always been more interested in the processes involved with making than on the work in its finished state, this has evolved into an attempt to capture those transient processes in finished pieces of work, hoping to evoke a sense of the time that has passed.

Having previously worked with print and drawing, Matilda has recently moved to working with text, which she sees as being similarly reflective and meditative. She is trying to find a balance between self-expression and reflection, whilst using systems to encourage a methodical production of work allowing the subconscious the time and space to wander. This exploration of the self creates a sense of movement and time passing, without an end goal of what is being created; progress and change for the sake of progress and change.
