Josie Connell

Josie Connell’s work is an exploration of the fabrication of our identities. The artist explores and celebrates the ability for our physical flesh and minds to be embellished and expressed through the use of material. Mixed media is used, such as fabric and wool, to create forms that illustrate the bodies planes and its intricacy’s; her methodology is a slow paced and laborious to reflect the time within forming and moulding our identities. The artist seeks to create works that reflect, or perhaps gesture towards the expansive nature of our ability to express our identity within contemporary society, and indeed, how conflated our self and material can be.
